Oh woe is Flo

Houston, we have a problem here.

To know Flo is to love Flo, and everything about Flo. This includes her belief that what's hers is hers, what's yours is hers and if she wants it, it's hers.

She always gets what she wants and was mildly surprised when Jori didn't just give in to her.

She laid down on Jori's bed. She is famous for this, on most days the comfy dog will get up and move. Usually they move grumbling just a bit under their breath.

This time Jori didn't move, she lifted her head and looked Flo right in the eye.

And then, she laid right back down barely moving a muscle.

Flo could not believe it. She rested beside Jori for a few moments and moved to a less crowded cushion.

On the other side

Something lives on the other side of that fence. We have no clue and the dogs aren't telling.

Whatever it is, it is driving the dogs crazy. Which in turn, it drives us crazy.

Fair warning to whatever you are. If you know what is good for you, you will stay on the other side.

Just sayin'

Friends

I wish I knew what they were thinking.

Sometimes, they just hang together.

So much the same and yet so different.

And clearly one is more regal and sassy than all the others.

Cranking up the heat

Today was the 60th Annual Crawfish Festival in Tualatin, OR. At the time it sounded like fun.

The kids at the skate park were quite entertaining.

And they didn't seem to be bothered by the heat as the temps started creeping away from our comfort zone, 72°, and moved closer to 100°.

Yes, we felt the heat.

We were beginning to melt at break neck speed.

Somehow, coming home and taking a happy nappy with the doggies in the air conditioning sounded like a much better idea.

The Screecher Creature

Skirvee was just sure that it would be really cool to have his sisters come live with him.

That was until they became the princesses and he has become affectionately known as the screecher creature.

He's a wimp. If someone is in his way he screeches until we come and save him. If he can't find a place to lay down, he screeches until we help him find just the right bed.

Gotta love the screecher creature.

Pearlies

Not happy at all with us, the twins began their plot of revenge early today.

Phase 1: Refuse to eat. They know, this one always gets us and they get luscious treats to entice them.

Phase 2: Stand in the kennel. It is too painful to lay down in the kennel, but the exact same cushions in the running path of the other dogs are just right.

After much coaxing, Slinky agreed to show off her beautiful pearlies.

Jillian on the other hand, was a bit of a moving target.

The twins had their girlie surgeries and dentals today. I really didn't plan on doing them the same day, but they are so devoted to each other that I couldn't bear to have them be apart on two separate occasions.

Both did very well, they are a little sore tonight, but they are doing fine.

Even the vet techs laughed when they realized they had to be side-by-side.

Love those twins.

On the move

If you were lookin' for me, I'm afraid this is probably the only thing you saw, my backside.

Good grief things are busy right now.

The R-Hound

Just a quick evening stroll with Foxy Roxy tonight out in the backyard.

So hard to believe she's our next birthday. She'll be the big 14.

Happy Birthday Minster

Today is my special day.

Wonder if anyone will remember?

Yo, MOMS! Today is a special day, remember? Are we doing anything.

Woo hoo, they remembered! We're taking a nap.

Return to Finley National Wildlife Refuge

Sunrise on the Willamette River, Corvallis, OR

Harvest time in the Willamette Valley.

Our first official greeter at Finley Wildlife Refuge.

The grasses were beautiful during our five mile hike.

At the first turn we came to Cabel Marsh and were pleasantly surprised to find a flock of pelicans sunning themselves.

The wildflowers were beautiful.

It was an awesome morning. Definitely worth getting up before sunrise.

Slinky in the sunset

Still working on equal camera time.

Equal Time

Not that the twins have any jealousy towards each other, not one little bit, Slinky demanded equal time in front of the camera after the princess pony.

Sadly, she was scooped by Skirvee and Jillian when something attracted them on the other side of the fence.

Talley Ho

High Ho Talley Ho. Tomorrow is a special day. Do you want anything special?

Ummmm, Talley, digging a new hole in the back yard is not quite what I had in mind.

And sulking is not going to make me change my mind.

Happy Birthday Talley Ho!

The Princess and her Pony

Out of all of the houndie dogs, we have two that love their babies more than anything. Moose and Jillian.

Unfortunately for Moose, Jillian has ways of stealing his babies and destroying them. I can't say how many of Moose's babies she has de-stuffed.

On the other hand, she has her Princess Pony and NO ONE, not even her sister Slinky are allowed to touch the Princess Pony.

She will steal Moose's baby and de-stuff it but the Princess Pony remains secure under the safety of her paw.

Probably just a tummy ache

When the kids were little, the pediatrician was always our best friend. The kids are now grown, and I do my best to stay on the good side of our veterinarian.

Friday, out of the clear blue our little beauty Jori started having diarrhea and vomiting. Normally, I stick by the 24 hour rule, if they aren't better in 24 hours we go in. This was different.

In a panic, I called the vet and she was on the phone immediately. Ten minutes later, we were in the clinic.

Jori was a little dehydrated at that point and she really seemed to feel rotten.

Turns out, she probably just had a tummy ache.

Some days, these dogs just make me crazy.

Field of gold

The last two days have been a lot of quality time with our veterinarian. Friday, thanks to Jori who got really sick, really fast and Saturday, Danny donated blood to another pup that needed some help.

Our vet and I always have a conversation around photography. During his show and tell, he showed me a field of flowers he had taken about a week ago.

I wasn't going to rest until I found that field for myself.

An amazing golden field of marigolds.
