The ladies

I wanted to take pictures, they wanted to see what was on the other side of the fence.

I wanted to take pictures, they wanted to eat grass.

Come a little closer please

Whatever was in the tree provided many images for my entertainment.

One classy girlfriend

I had my 100mm macro lens out at noon when I was running da doggies. I've never used the macro for portraits before.

Holy smokes, I was totally shocked and pleased with the results, of course my model today is nothing less than brilliant.

Slinky was standing under the cedar trees stalking a squirrel, I'm not even sure she noticed me.

Sheesh, if only I could get her and her sister to stand side by side for a portrait (like a pair of well-behaved goldens we all know and love), I'd be a very happy mommy.

Chances of that happening, slim to none.

Triple the celebration

Ah yes, it is party time in May and this week, why not celebrate three birthdays in one? Yes, the triplets are celebrating their 9th birthdays.

Try as I may, a charming photo of siblings just wasn't going to happen.

Happy birthday my little fawn pretties.

I see

Way up there, in that tree

I'm pretty sure that I see

Something fluffy that belongs to me.

New toys! or not

The girls were so excited to try out their new toys this evening. Brand new brightly colored screamin' monkeys. Promise of greyt fun and greyter pictures.

For a brief moment, while the sun was peaking from behind some clouds, I forgot where we lived. Suddenly and unexpectedly (remember the sun was shining) we were pelted with raindrops.

All hopes were dashed as Slinky and

and Jillian peered forlornly from underneath the patio cover.

I'm pretty sure I heard one of them mumble, "you have got to be *&^*%^$^%&*&^ kidding me!".

Stink eye times 3

In search of a greyt story tonight, I set out with my camera in hand and found the triplets just laying around. (Trust me, that is no big surprise around here.)

Jillian was not happy with the bro, he had the couch and she did not.

Skirvee was nestled on snug on the couch and really didn't appreciate me hanging around.

And Slinky, well she is just not a fan of the camera.

Are any of the above good enough reasons to give me the stink eye? I think not.

Jilted, by Slinky

There once was a girl named Slinky.

She wanted a ring for her pinky.

She thought Flocko her honey,

His heart was for Bunny,

She thought that was totally stinky.

#$%%%^#$@%$% chickens

We had a rain break again this evening and thought for sure it would be a perfect time to take the triplets out and capture some moments of my pretties.
I let them get the silliness out, but the neighbors chickens began to make a little more noise than normal and I quickly became non-existent.

Profiles became the pic du jour.

All eyes immediately became glued in one direction and one direction only.

Jillian was the only one that added any interest to the photos. Note the foam that is beginning to form at the corner of her mouth. That girl is thinking desert.

The view from my desk

I'm on vacation, sort of. I have a free lance project I'm working on, so except for running the dogs, I lived in front of my computer today.

This was the view. I think I bore them. I, on the other hand, love working from home.

National "Where is my nose day?"

I paced around the room last night with my camera. "I need a subject! Give me a subject." I was demanding attention from the lazy sots that surrounded me.
As you can see, they quivered in terror.

So frightened, they scrambled.

Not. This was as much activity as I could get.

Dear Paul

A little birdie told us that you needed some pictures of your girls. Just for the record, we've been melting lately. You remember how sweet we are, well it has been raining cats and rabbits around here forever and there is no way we are going to stand in the rain for one more mug shot.

I have become a full fledged coach potato. Flo the Mouth and I duke it out every night to see who gets the coach. I think I intimidate her just a little.

She's still a problem however and I am thinking of ways that I can eliminate the problem.

Slinky on the other hand prefers two cushions stacked on the floor. She's the gentle one, not quite as stubborn as I am. She's much more camera shy too.

We just wanted to reassure you that we had run away to the circus, we're still in the gardens, the soaking wet gardens.

Love  from your Girls,
Jillian and Slinky

The story of the twin-triplets

I think I have mentioned many times that I have been a volunteer for greyhound adoption for many years in one way or the other.

When I adopted my first greyhound, he rocked my world and changed my life forever, for the better.

Traditionally, when you adopt a greyhound, they are between 18 months to a senior dog (our oldest dog at the time of adoption was 12.5 years old).

We wanted a puppy and just happened to mention in passing at the kennel one day that we thought a puppy would be so cool to have.

Ta da! A few weeks later we got the call. A 5 month old pup with a crippled paw was looking for a couch.

I'm not going to tell you how surprised we were when our puppy was nearly full-grown. My daughter wanted to name him Skirvee, after a Paul Frank character.

About 18 months passed and a beautiful fawn boy named Buddy was returned to the adoption group. He looked remarkably like Skirvee and was so sweet and gentle. I refused to believe that a bite was his return ticket. He and I instantly bonded and he came home with me. Later on we connected the dots and realized that Buddy's mom was also Skirvee's grandmom.

Duh, no wonder they looked so much alike.

We fostered a lot of greyhounds, probably somewhere between 60 and 70 hounds. Sometimes they only stayed a few days, sometimes they stayed a few months... and yes, a couple of them are still here.

Out of all of those hounds, I never met a greyhound that I didn't fall head over heals in love with. They were all wonderful.

We decided we wanted to see what the racing side was like. If all of these dogs were this wonderful, racing couldn't be that bad.

We met a kennel owner and once again, our lives were changed forever. It has been one of the best experiences.

Do you recognize the cute little white and blue girl that Skirvee is talking too? That's Minnie, only three months old.

At the farm, we met Cinnamon, Buddy's mom and Skirvee's grandmom. She lived to be over 16 years old and was true testament to the grace and dignity of greyhounds.

We also met Jill. She is a Cinnamon baby, but not the same litter as Buddy.

Jill is Skirvee, Jillian and Slinky's momma.

Jillian and Slinky had gone off to race so we didn't get to meet them at that time.

The kennel owners love their dogs and Jillian and Slinky wrapped their paws so tight around the kennel owners, that even after retirement, they remained pets of the kennel owners.

When Minnie retired, I flew down to Florida to bring her back to Oregon. At that time I met Jillian and Slinky, the identical twins. When Flocko retired, I flew down to Florida to bring him home and I knew the twins were mine.

Last year the twins came home. The girls are totally devoted to each other and are inseparable. Sometimes I think they know Skirvee is their brother. Sometimes not.

And that is the story of the twin-triplets.

The triplets get a new toy

Yes, it is true. Greyhounds love to play. And our greyhounds know the minute something is different on their acre.

Take for instance the day the big life-sized toy landed in the yard. Jillian and Skirvee couldn't wait to check it out.

Since she is our toy monster, Jillian immediately claimed the life-size toy to be her very own.

She made sure she licked it and nibbled it as Slinky stood close by.

Then she snuggled in, looked straight at me and said "Thank you."

It's time to make more new friends, please join us for the Saturday Pet Blog Hop

Terri's angels

Once upon a time there were three red dogs who all went to the race track. And they ran as fast as they could, but I was the lucky one that got to adopt them and they all live with me.

My name is Terri.

Tip toe into the New Year

Thank you so much to everyone who dropped by the blog yesterday.

A couple of you mentioned the tulip fields and it brought back so many colorful memories.

There is a tulip farm about 20 miles from where we live.

Every spring they have a huge celebration and we always take a couple of greyhounds.

This is Maddie, she was 13 when we took her out, sadly, this was one of her last field trips. I always thought she was pretty in pink.

I'm sure you recognize my stud muffin Flocko. Since there wasn't a ball involved, he was not impressed.

This year, the twins had just arrived and this was their maiden field trip. They were so good.

Around the end of February I'll start stalking the Woodenshoe website to see when the tulips will be in full color.

You'll just have to check back then to see who gets to tip toe through the tulips this year.
