There will be no bananas in your future tonight!

I'm pacing around the house looking for fodder tonight. Sheesh, you'd think with this crew, there would be a story around every giant dust bunny.

And then Minnie raised her paw, I needed a fresh and new glamor shot of her.

Except for the total lack of cooperation... You hooo, Minnie, the camera is over here. I followed her around the entire acre.

And all she was willing to give me was a nose pointed at the lens.

Umm Minnie, I know that you think you are so cute when you stomp your feet and smile for your half banana, but there will be no banana in your future tonight!

Testing, testing 1 2 3

OK, I admit it, I've been jonesing for a new lens. I picked up an 85mm f/1.8 yesterday. Not the one I really wanted, but the one I could afford.

I served notice to the dogs that their kibble rations just got cut in half to pay for the lens. They don't look to hungry, yet.

Nose to the ground

No rain today! No rain today! No blue sky or sun, but at least it was dry.

Minnie and Talley were finally able to get their noses to the ground and get their sniffers working again.

Oh, and Bunny, if you are listening, Flocko is working extra hard in the beefcake department just for you.

Another greyt adventure with Minnie

Minnie could hardly contain her excitement when she heard the car keys jingle this morning. She knew it was her turn for the first greyt adventure of 2011.

However, once we reached our destination, she was not impressed. A water puddle, big deal.

Giant waves crashed against the rocks. The full moon promised and delivered a fabulous high tide.

Minnie however, remained unimpressed.

Seagulls lined the fenceposts in anticipation of the big event.

"Where are the dog bones?", was all that Minnie could mutter under her breath remaining completely and totally... not impressed.

Ye little fathead.

Rhut Ro

Call just came in, they want to partake of my blood today.

Vampires!

But wait, that means extra snacks.

Storm warning continued

As promised, the snow came. 24 hours later than predicted. The flakes were big and fluffy, there was wind. We were prepared to be snowed in for months (aka lots of full kibble bags).

And then, only minutes later, the snow completely disappeared. The sun came out. It didn't warm up any, but the white fluffy stuff we were so looking forward to was gone. All gone.

Welcome to Oregon.

Rabbit season

It's no secret that our greyhounds love their babies. They especially love their babies when they get to take them outside to play.

It's also no secret, that on any given day, a baby can go from perfect to fluff in 30 seconds or less.

I would never deny our pups the delight they receive flying around the backyard, with a baby in their mouth, they get such a kick out of this.

We have a best known secret to keeping the babies flying with the hounds.

We circle through the Goodwill stuffed animal departments. They are cheap, always in great condition and the hounds love them.

And now, as we approach Easter, the rabbits are multiplying like crazy on the shelves.

Rabbits are the best, especially with big floppy ears to play tug o' war with, grab and run, or just flop in the wind.

It's time to for the Saturday Pet Blog Hop.

It's official

I'm going to change the name of this blog from Itsa greyt day to My dogs crack me up.

With a household run by hounds, or gone to the dogs, we have many routines in place. Everyone's favorite after romping through mud puddles is the evening when we retire in front of the TV for a couple of hours.

Now, it is every dog for himself and if you want a front row cushion or the couch, you'd better arrive in the living room early.

Saturday night as I was moving my important things into the living room, the laptop, iPhone and tea I looked down to see that Talley floofed and fluffed her cushion.

Guess my girlfriend required a pillow.

Dancing in the New Year

Have fun ladies, bring in the New Year in style.

Overall, it has been a great year.

We were quite sad to say good bye to Duncan when the evil cancer monster took over.

And we where so delighted to have the twins join us. Yeppers, they make our world so colorful.

Not sure what lies ahead, but we'll make it good no matter what.

So go ahead ladies, shake your bootie and make a few new friends on the Saturday Pet Blog Hop.

The forest sprites

Seriously girls, we have an acre of grass. I just mopped the floors. Must you all just stand in the mud?

Single-file frolicking

For our greyhounds, playing in the rain is just absurd, unconscionable, intolerable.

However, during a sun break, the squishy mud between the toes is delightful.

Bring it on.

Patience young grasshopper

Her royal highness (thank you Thundering Herd for putting that thought in her head) is ready to greet her audience now.

Thank you so much for the complements on my photos. Trust me, it is my incredibly beautiful models.

I don't have a studio. I set up nearly everything in our living room. For the most recent set of portraits, I am using a 2 yard remnant of black velour type fabric as the backdrop. I'm also bouncing an off-camera flash into an umbrella.

But mostly, I just have to be really, really patient and wait, and wait and sometimes wait even longer to get them to pose.

They can be such fat heads.

Excuse me?

You want what? When?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Try again tomorrow.

OK, so the iPhone cat trick didn't work out this time.

My hero

By night, Minnie is a couch potato.

By day, Minnie is a speed demon, a wild woman.

And every day, Minnie is a hero to many dogs that she has donated blood to.

Many greyhounds are universal blood donors and Minnie is just one of them.

Today, a little poodle puppy named Molly was very sick. Her mom knew something was wrong when she brought her into the vet clinic. Her vets were worried.

When they called and asked for a donor, I had Minnie there within 30 minutes and held her paw while she bravely stood and donated her blood.

Tonight when I checked in on little Molly, she was feeling better, not out of the woods yet but feeling better.

You've got good go-go juice Minnie, you're our hero.

Meet all of the heroes on the Saturday Pet Blog Hop
