Here comes the Cindernellibelli

And the girl is on the move. Cindernellibelli, let's go play with toys.

Sweetie Girl, this is called catch. We throw the toy and you open your mouth and catch.

That's a girl. See it squeaks!

Honey, it's ok that it squeaked. Don't spit it out.

Fly Cindernellibelli. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Cinderella!

A little ballet, little one?

Airborne again!

Yeppers, there's that toy again.

Run girl, run.

You've got the toy. Good girl.

Wanna play with the ball?

Nope, guess not.

The old man is feeling his oats

Since the first day Pasha came to live with us, he has liked the girls. He has even selected two or three for his personal harem.

One morning last week he was particularly excited when one of his girls came out with him.

Always ready to play, Pasha invited Jori to "bring it on."

He's unsteady on his feet, but that doesn't seem to stop him.

Pasha is a total flirt and Jori is a bit of a tease.

But Pasha played to her for all he was worth.

After the flirting dance, they both squared off...

had a brief staredown,

And the flirty dance was on again.

Jori played hard to get, Pasha played coy.

In the end Jori turned her head and walked away, leaving Pasha alone at the alter.

But a handsome studmuffin like Pasha always has a back-up plan.

Oregon by Greyhound • Three Pools

The Adventure Three Pools
Location LAT 44° 50' 22" N LON 122° 18' 41" W
Date September 4, 2009
Weather 81°, Sunny
Distance 43.1 miles

Minnie patiently waited for her next adventure and when it didn't come soon enough she demanded an adventure. She began barking, dancing and stomping her feet until we had no choice but to take that girl for a ride.

And so, on a wonderful September day we were off to Three Pools in the Opal Creek Wilderness.

The water is an incredible emerald green and above where we stood we could see where the made it's way through narrow canyons and around a series of boulders.

A trail continued upstream and Minnie scampered up the stairs to go further down the trail.

The river continued to weave through the rock canyons.

A lone madrona tree rested above the river.

One more example of the crystal clear, emerald green water.

I had climbed down the water edge and when I looked up, Minnie was watching my every move.

A boy and his ball

After retiring, Flocko decided he needed a new career and joined the PGSL, Professional Greyhound Soccer League.

Hey Flocko, is there something you would like?

There you go boy, go play with your ball.

Around and around the acre we go, where Flocko stops, nobody knows.

Flocko, the divets. Please replace your divets.

But a little weeding would be great. Thanks Flocko.

Yes, it's your ball, we all know that.

Heading down the homestretch for the goal.

Keep going, you're almost there for the win.

Wait, go back Flock0, the ball is behind you.

Nice move, an air turn.

And he's off again.

Nice game big guy!

Sheesh, Boys will be Boys

What is it with boys? I had two daughters and zero sons, so I don't know first hand if human boys behave like dog boys... but I have heard stories and I suspect that they do.

Yes Pasha, Minnie is a very cute little girl.

Joey, Talley is going to turn around and clean your clock. I won't see a thing when she does.

Out of the archives, two of my favorite fosters, Otis and Barney.

What happens

When you adopt a greyhound that has broken a hock?

They fly everywhere of course.

This little girl broke her hock almost two years ago.

You'd never know it by watching her.

Although I can't compare how fast she used to run,

I do know that she doesn't slow down very much now.

And everything in her path is in danger of getting run over.

This, is Flyin' Flo.

Repeat after me

Today will be a better day. Today will be a better day. Today will be a better day.

And if it isn't?

I'm fully prepared to take action. Look out.

Danny's favorite time of year

On this very first day of September I declare...

I love the fall. Well, I really love the juicy apples that fall from the tree.

Nothing is better than cool green grass and a snack.

There is a true art to eating an apple. Hold it down with your paws and tip your head this way and then...

Tip your head this way.

Holding it ever so carefully with the front toofems is important.

Just remember, an apple a day keeps the veterinarian away.
