Grey Bullets

We were out in the backyard with the dogs the other day. Karen would let them out and I was at the back fence taking pictures as they ran toward me. The quality is terrible, but I love the look of the grey bullets.Once they realized where I was, they were in flight and on their way.

An apple a day

The cherries have had their day, the plums are quickly coming to an end, and the walnuts and hazelnuts aren't quiet ready.

These sweet little blossoms have done their magic and turned into apples.

And one by one they are falling to the ground.

This makes for one very happy weimie. A weimie that is not interested in sharing, not even with Lucee.

So Emma picked up her apple pieces and moved them to another location, still feeling the need to guard her treasure closely.

Until she was quite sure that she could enjoy her first apple of the season in peace.

Oregon by Greyhound • Back to Upper Butte Creek Falls

The Adventure Upper Butte Creek Falls
Location LAT 44.92389 N LON 122.51222 W
Date May 16, 2009
Weather 94°, Sunny
Distance 33 miles

Last time we were at Upper Butte Creek Falls, we didn't make it to the second falls just below the falls. Minnie led the way this time.

The red color on the berries of this plant were beautiful, but thorns on the stalk, upper and under sides of the leaf were enough to keep from looking closer.

We were quite surprised when we rounded the corner to the falls.

We went from a thunderous wall of water dumping over the ledge,

to a trickle dropping 22 ft. to the pool below.

It was now possible to walk behind the falls and look out.

Despite the heat, it was a really beautiful day.

Oregon by Greyhound • Yaquina Head

The Adventure Yaquina Head Lighthouse
Location LAT 44°40′36.4″ N LON 124°04′45.9″ W
Date July 25, 2009
Weather 61°, foggy
Distance 92.3 miles

The plan was to catch the sunset at the lighthouse. The drive to the coast was beautiful, at least until we hit the Newport city limits.

At that point, we knew the only yellow we were going to catch were the yellow evening primrose that lined the road going out to the lighthouse. They were far enough inland, that we still had hopes of seeing something. Anything.

This is the lighthouse from the parking lot, maybe 100 feet and an hour away from sunset.

It was windy and cold and Buddy was pretty sure he would be warmer inside.

Sorry Budman, you'll have to stick this one out with us in the wind and the fog.

Ocean visability was nearly impossible except straight down from the cliff.

The seagulls didn't seem to have a problem navigating in the fog.

Looking at the backside of the lighthouse.

And they expect ships to see that itty bitty light in the fog. Right.

Yowsa Towsa

Hey, guess what?

It's my birfday today. I'm the greyt 8.

So, I think I will spend my day running and playing with my friends.

And then, I'll take a happy nappy.

It will be a very good birfday.

Anatomy of a cowdog

Slender waistline, legs that go on forever, taute muscles, deep lustrous dark eyes. The greyhound. They come in a million colors, but if want one that will turn heads, meet

The cowdog. White and black.

Appearing to have a perfectly white and black split neck, the two black ears keep the look balanced.

Black drapes over and down the white face as if it were a mask.

The legs are sprayed with watered-down black paint.

Black patches—carefully placed short, broad strokes—adorn the snowy white coat.

A red velvet color accentuates the snowy white and jet black.

But if you want a real cowdog, make sure you have a speckled tookus.
