Brace yourself and keep your distance.
Sneak up from behind, it's always the safest place to be.
Be ready to attack back.
Slowly walk around, never take your eyes away.
Sticking your tongue out at it is always effective.
Closing your eyes and pretending it isn't there is even better.
And if you are brave, look it straight in the eye.
Never let 'em see your fear.
But if you must, run to the momma for protection. Knocking her on her butt will certainly keep you safe.
but just remember, it is all about trick or treat. TRICK!

It's that time of year, when you have to move about cautiously.
Watch over your shoulder...
and stay low to the ground.
Move forward ever so slowly...
Ready to run away on a moments notice.
Trust no one.
And be fully aware of what lies ahead...
To be continued.

Mornings at our house can be grueling. 4 am is not an uncommon time.
But the benefits are rewarding. At some point right outside our door, a spider intricately spun a web.
The early morning beads of dew made up for the damage the evening winds had caused.

Picture if you will, autumn in Oregon. It's 5 am, run the dogs and coffee time. The maple tree is just beginning to drop it's leaves. A leaf falls and is caught mid-air, tangled in a spider web.
Dangling for a moment, the spider descends, hoping for a tasty snack.
The spider was less than appreciative as the camera flashed and the weight of the leaf pulled at the web.
And within less than five minutes, the leaf got stuck and
the spider released it.
Oh, and just in case you are wondering, do I ever do anything besides run the dogs and take pictures?
Pretty much not. But I have enlisted the boys to help with the dishes.

Look Roxy, there's the beach.
And no wind, rain or fog. Look at how still Fogarty Creek is.
Usually the wind is blowing so hard, the trees look like this.
Let's head down by the waves, we'll go beach combing.
Keep your eyes peeled for sea shells Roxy girl.
Yeppers, that's a sea shell.
You know the story... She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
Keep looking, maybe you'll see something out in the ocean.
Just another sea shell.
Yes Roxy, those waves are crashing hard, but we'll keep you safe.
And besides, they are so beautiful.

Roxy was sure that Moose did not look in all of the right places since he came home reporting that there was no Great Pumpkin.
And so, she insisted that we go right back out there and take her with us.
Of course, the first order of business was to stop and smell the daisies.
and looked. But just as Moose has reported,
There weren't any sightings of the Great Pumpkin.
But it was beautiful out there.
