I adopted my first greyhound on January 1, 2002. To say that greyhounds changed my life forever would be a huge understatement.
I immediately became involved in greyhound adoption and that led to proving the chipping theory: you can't have just one.
Jori was our fourth greyhound, Megan is my oldest daughter. The day I brought this shy little brindle girl home as foster, to get her more used to being with people, my daughter and Jori became one.
Megan grew up, went off to college seven years ago, got a job in Portland. Jori stayed behind with me.
Yesterday Megan came home for a visit. I was pretty sure Jori was going to climb out of her skin in excitement.
I admit it, I sent Megan out into the backyard so that I could witness the reunion. I suspected that Jori would know her the minute she saw her and I was right.
The best things in life are never forgotten.

That's so sweet for both Jori and Megan.
I LOVE the message of this post. Your daughter and Jori are lovely, and their bond is touching. It really is the memories and time with loved ones that matter!! Wishing you a very merry Christmas!
That's a wonderful post!
Have a great Christmas and enjoy the time with your daughter!
I love this post. It's so sweet! We used to foster, and I can still remember how two of our fosters would just go absolutely crazy when they saw us. It was a great feeling. On the other hand, we got Blueberry after she'd lived with a woman who was, quite honestly, a bit off. We ran into her out in public several times after Blue became ours, and Blueberry wanted absolutely nothing to do with her. I know in my heart that they definitely don't forget!
Merry Christmas to you!
That's so true. Merry Christmas!
We agree. We had a litter of pups and whenever we see the other homed puppies, they practically knock us down with love and kisses. No, they never forget when they are loved. Merry Christmas!
What a lovely Christmas story!
