New beds have arrived at Costco.
I have done some preliminary testing. The pretzel position works quite well with the arm resty things.
The arm resty things also do quite well for holding the head in the bed.
They are definitely perfect for the more petite greyhound.
Of course, said petite greyhound would rather we not bother her while she is doing a new bed test.

There isn't a lot of dignity in the pretzel position but I like the pose anyway :)
