13 candles
Nine years ago Memorial Day week-end you and your friend Bentley became one with the acre and I followed just a few short months after that. Murphy, I have to tell you that you are one of the sweetest hounds, so gentle and loving.
Everything looks so different from that picture now. Bentley lost his fight with osteosarcoma, you have a lot more white around the muzzle and we're not even going to discuss my new wrinkles, gray hair and body parts that currently sag around my knee caps.
13 years old is so bad handsome.
I see many more days of lazing around in the grass for you.
Happy 13th birthday Murphy!

When you wish upon a star
Clancy is probably one of our most beautiful hounds. We were out on the acre this afternoon just hanging and when I looked up, this is what I saw.

Every dog has a job
It is no secret that I love dogs the best. I love the black and white ones, they are so classy. And watching the sheepdog trials was poetry in motion.
Although I do think the sheep thought the trials were a bit of an inconvenience. Each dog had four sheep to bring in.
The sheep were positioned 400 yards out in the field and the handler directed the dog to go left or right through a series of whistle commands.
The dog herded the sheep through a series of gates on a course. If one or more of the sheep missed the gate, points were deducted from the 100 possible points.
The goal was to get the sheep down through the course to the handler and eventually into a pen.
They had 10.5 minutes to do it.
Keeping them together was sometimes a challenge.
This was a renegade sheep. She was not about to be herded around by any dog or human for that matter.
And the spa tub at the end of the run, it was the best.

One classy girlfriend
I had my 100mm macro lens out at noon when I was running da doggies. I've never used the macro for portraits before.
Holy smokes, I was totally shocked and pleased with the results, of course my model today is nothing less than brilliant.
Slinky was standing under the cedar trees stalking a squirrel, I'm not even sure she noticed me.
Sheesh, if only I could get her and her sister to stand side by side for a portrait (like a pair of well-behaved goldens we all know and love), I'd be a very happy mommy.
Chances of that happening, slim to none.

Happy Birthday Crystal
Miss Crystal, you were such a puppy when I took this back in 2004. You weren't even 18 months old yet and your new family was waiting to adopt you.
It is such a treat to have you here with us now to celebrate your 8th birthday.
You look marvelous dahling, hardly any white at on that muzzle. :o)))
Party at the Saturday Pet Blog Hop, please join us.

Practice, practice, practice
Here at Greyhound Gardens we are fairly certain that sometime in the next four months, we will celebrate a dog day of summer. You know the ones that are hot and miserable, the kind that leave you longing to just lay in the cool, green grass.
Of course, spring is no where on the horizon. Guess we're just being optimistic.

Triple the celebration
Ah yes, it is party time in May and this week, why not celebrate three birthdays in one? Yes, the triplets are celebrating their 9th birthdays.
Try as I may, a charming photo of siblings just wasn't going to happen.
Slinky dink pink
Jilly bean green
And our forever goof ball, screechin' Skirvee kadiddlehopper
Happy birthday my little fawn pretties.

Good golly Miss Molly
A few weeks ago, the garden hounds got a care package from greyhound Molly and her momma Debby. It included some treats, a few toys and a couple of bones. Apparently, Molly is chew challenged.
I can't begin to thank Debby enough for the care package, it has been a HUGE hit amongst the houndie dogs. The bone is passed from one hound to the next and they chew away. And the treats, sometimes I worry that I'm going to lose a finger because they are so anxious to snatch them from my hands.
So I'm sending a huge shout out to Molly and Debby, THANK YOU, we really love the care package.

Guess it is Flocko week
Every time I have gone out into the backyard, Flocko has some how managed his way to the front of the camera lens.
Perhaps he is planning for a trip to Broadway, or maybe the cover of Beautiful Dog Magazine.
Or, maybe he is just teasing Bunny.

Flocko ball season
Hot damn! It's Flocko ball season. This guy loves playing ball.
So much so, that he has had to take time off for a couple of broken toes.
It's very much like soccer, always head and feet.
And the grass is always in imminent danger. He does not replace his divets.
He is just one wild and crazy guy.
And why is he wearing a muzzle you might ask?
Because in one muzzle we go from wild and crazy Flocko ball to slobber I'm going to eat you ball.
Now, it is time to play at the Saturday Pet Blog Hop. Please join us.

Mine, all mine
I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to share.
But then, judging by all of the slobber he has on it, who'd want it?

Hmmmm
I love spring. After all of the winter rain (and current spring rain), we have a million flowers that just come up on their own. One fruit tree after another blooms. Every year, these pretty little purple flowers grow everywhere.
Talley was out sniffing around Sunday morning.
Clearly, the pretty little purple flowers must not smell very good.
I guess next year we are expected to plant something that is more enjoyable.

HBJ
Stands for Happy Birthday Joey. Yessiree, party central continues here in the gardens.
Our shy boy Joey is hitting the double-digits on Monday. Guess it's time for the Double-digit Gang to have a meeting, elect new officers and have an official Double-digit Gang photo taken.
Holy smokes this group is getting big.

Happy Mother's Day
We've had a lot of broodies come through Greyhound Gardens. Roxy is the only one still with us. Successfully, she raised 16 little babies, had a career and is now enjoying retirement. She pretty much rules the roost.

My new fast friend
I visited the Oregon Garden today, well, rather I was up there for a wedding. I stopped at this sweet little waterfall to take a picture.
When a blue heron flew in and landed on the other side of the pond. He really stretched his neck to check me out.
He posed for awhile. I'm sure he was quite thankful that the only way I could get any closer was to swim.
As quickly as he landed, he was off again.
Oh well, I guess it's time to make new friends at the Pet Blog Hop.
